Circus, Circus

There is really nothing quite like the Chinese circus; it is just incredible.
And, in the city where we live, it goes on 365 days a year!  Spectacular indeed.

Bread for Life

The Chinese do not eat a lot of bread - at all.
However, bread was sold in our little market, and was I glad...toast every morning along with a yogurt drink or some rice.  But, you will notice there are no ends on the bread....
what did they do with all the bread ends?

Dorm Bedroom

There are no dressers for the girls' things; only desks for studying.  So, the girls pile their belongings on their beds and in containers under the beds.  Mosquito netting is an absolute necessity!

Sugar Cane Cutie

This little boy plays every day at the little fruit stand his parents run just outside the gate of the University.
He plays here day after day.
Today, he is chewing on a piece of sugar cane.  People love to eat pure sugar cane.  The sides are stripped, then it is ready to eat.  They chew and suck on it, and then they spit the cane out.

Dumplings at the Dumpling Festival

I should have taken pictures of this feast much earlier because in this tray were also som dumplings shaped like little pink pigs...

the walnut shaped dumplings had - walnuts, of course;
the duck-shaped dumplings were made with duck meat, of course,
and the little piggies had...well, of course you guessed it PORK!

so cute and clever and tasty, as well.
